Her Story
Josie named her Namaste because dogs are the closest thing to God. Y’know God backward is dog. It combines everything Josie believes: the yoga, the spiritual sincerity, the complete willingness to look slightly unhinged in pursuit of something meaningful.
The nickname happened naturally. Josie calls her Nama at home, which is soft and sweet and very them. But in public, when Nama spots something interesting and starts to wander, Josie yells NAMA-STAY across the park in a tone that suggests she is either calling a dog or asking the universe a very urgent question. People turn around every time.
Maya, who met Josie in downward dog and has been her yoga friend ever since, cried the first time she heard the full name. Happy tears. She said it was the most Josie thing. Nama is at peace with it. Josie is teaching her how to do prayer hands.
A Random Fact
Nama and Josie practice their downward dog in the spare bedroom that Josie has turned into a yoga studio- ish. She can also do Puppy Pose (Anahatasana), also known as Half Dog Pose.

Can You Relate to NAMA?
If you have ever walked into a chaotic situation, found the calmest spot in the room, and just existed there until everyone around you remembered how to breathe, you are already living the Namaste life. She is not trying. That is the whole point.
